From the very beginning, Alberta-Pacific was determined to be a unique company, founded on a strong, team-based culture. The founders believed that the best way to achieve a satisfying and high-performing workplace where safety, open communication, productivity and quality are always at the forefront was through self-managed work teams.

Every employee at Alberta-Pacific is a member of a team. Teams are relatively small (6-15 people) that are carefully structured and trained to manage their day-to day activities, plus functions such as budgeting, hiring and discipline. Team members are expected to take initiative, provide input into team decisions and to work together to identify challenges and develop solutions.

To help build strong teams, Alberta-Pacific provides all team members with specialized training to develop effective team skills. This includes learning how to interact in a team environment, problem solving and decision making, coaching and mentoring and direct dealing to resolve conflict. The company also encourages teams to establish strong interpersonal relationships and provides teams the opportunity to take part in fun, team-building exercises away from work.

Alberta-Pacific offers competitive salary and benefits that are among the best in our industry.  We are dedicated to providing team members with professional development opportunities in addition to benefits, facilities and activities that help them stay healthy and enjoy life to the fullest.

Alberta-Pacific is one of the most advanced pulp mills in the world. We utilize some of the best technology available and have a strong force of highly-trained team members that are the backbone of our success.

To continue to stay on the leading edge, Alberta-Pacific invests in training and development to ensure our team members have the skills and knowledge to perform their jobs at a high level. On average, we provide each team member about $3,200 annually for training. Team members not only apply these new skills to their job, but also coach and mentor other team members and transfer their knowledge to others wherever possible.

In addition, we have developed strong partnerships with some of the leading post-secondary institutions in the province including the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and Portage College to develop innovative training programs tailored for our organization and our people. These include the in-house millwright apprenticeship program and industrial maintenance multi-skilling program, where team members can receive onsite training towards acquiring a trade.

Alberta-Pacific is nestled in northeast Alberta, approximately 200 kilometres north of Edmonton. Most of our team members live in the nearby communities of Lac La Biche, Boyle, Plamondon and Athabasca, all of which are within easy driving distance of the mill. The region offers a wonderful lifestyle and an enriching environment for families, education, organized sports, arts, outdoor recreation and community spirit.
