Manager, English Language Foundations

The Centre for Academic Learner Services (CALS) invites applications for the Manager of English Language Foundations (ELF). This position will concentrate on the strategic direction of the ELF; focusing on identifying and seeking new business opportunities. Reporting to the Dean of CALS; the Manager will provide leadership for the ELF Program, international and domestic corporate programming, Workforce Development research and development, Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessment (CLBA) testing and applied research. In this role, you will provide vision and leadership for continuous ELF curriculum improvement, program development and implementation of applied research approaches.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Research domestic and global markets, and adapt programs to meet market trends
· Participate in the design and content of new marketing materials
· Work with project managers, corporate training, and curriculum developers to tailor programs to the client
· Meet regularly with direct reports for updating and program development
· Represent the ELF program achievements on campus and in the community
· Develop and manage budgetary commitments
· Ensure appropriate project reporting to supporting agencies/corporations
· Liaise with a variety of SAIT departments to ensure coordinated processes that support instructors, students and applicants
· Support Customer Services in managing SAIT's language requirements
· Work with Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) to ensure rapid and effective assessment of international and immigrant applicants to SAIT
· Create an environment that is physically, socially and administratively supportive of innovative programming
· Work with Corporate Training to ensure appropriate and supportive language training programming for industry.
· Network with ESL providers to establish academic pathways for entry to SAIT.
· Liaise with Academic Chairs to build awareness of language development issues.
· Responsible for the recruitment, supervision and evaluation of the ELF Program Coordinator and ELF administrative staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Desired qualifications include a Masters Degree or equivalent education.
· Five years of increasingly responsible supervisory and management experience.
· Highly skilled at establishing relationships and building partnerships.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
· Demonstrated ability to market programs and work with corporate and international clients.
· Knowledge of the requirements of domestic and international ESL clients.
