General Manager (Road Building / Heavy Civil Construction / Mining)
Location: Labrador
Reporting to senior management, this individual will be responsible for coordinating and managing people, subcontractors, materials, and equipment; estimating and bidding; budgets, schedules, and contracts; and safety of employees and the general public. This person will be the face of the company and will be responsible for ensuring a positive public image.
Essential Functions:
- Financial budgeting and control
- Assist in the preparation and submitting of contract bids and project estimates
- Plan and prepare construction schedules and monitor progress against established schedules
- Enforce and adhere to Company policy and procedure
- Work with the staff on all construction related aspects to insure profitability of projects
· Write clear concise reports for senior executives
- Review, approve and implement process and economic improvements
- Responsible for safety and environmental compliance
· Organize operations so that the employees know exactly what role each has to play for the safe and successful completion of projects
- Ensuring that property and equipment are properly maintained
- Ensuring quality control and dealing with any issues.
Qualifications
- Civil Engineering degree or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma (CET) preferred
- Previous experience (10+ years) in a General Manager or Senior Superintendent capacity would be considered an asset
- Proven Construction Management Skills
· Strong leadership qualities and be able to get excellent performance from their support staff
- Ability to relate to all levels of the organization, as well as, outside clients/vendors and contractors
- Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of civil construction
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must.
- Bilingualism would be an asset.
