Job Title:        Assembly Mac Operator (OPS)
Department:  Operations Services
Reports To:    Manager, Prepress Applications

Job Summary:
To produce print ready digital direct marketing materials in accordance with Operation Services' policies and procedures and to predetermined schedule timelines.

Major Accountabilities:

1.  Assembles into master grids the correct placements of copy, flashes and promotional treatments adhering to Direct Mail manufacturing specifications.  Communication in a timely and effective manner any required changes or issues regarding the current project. (30%)

2.  Positions approved images and flashes to grids and adjusts copy to look aesthetically pleasing and legible, while still maintaining master guidelines for printing.  Coordinates with Print Buyer and DTC contact to supply a layered PDF file to represent the final printed piece with all treatments (scratch-offs, stickers, die-lines) in such a manner that can be approved on-line. (30%)

3.  Prepares final digital file(s) for computer to plate output, supplying black and white laser proofs of separation and PDF of materials to the Print Buyer.  Mac Operator is responsible for checking and ensuring separations represent the number of passes on the press and meets manufacturing and printing specifications. (20%)

4.  Archives final materials and all supporting elements to Archive volume for future reference.  All completed materials to be archived on a monthly basis to ensure good housekeeping.  Create SOP's and best practices document that helps standardize production of DTC mailers for the rest of Assembly Operators should work need to be redistributed. (20%)

Qualifications:
Specific training or job experience required before appointment includes:

     >  Post-secondary diploma/degree in Graphic Art
     >  Or 1-3 years of Mac working experience
     >  Advanced Mac skills on InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop
     >  Knowledge of Layer Manager
     >  Excellent communication, planning and organizing, and keyboarding skills
     >  Analytical and problem-solving skills
     >  Knowledge of tyopgraphy, design layout, film and printing process
     >  Ability to multi-task and the ability to work independently or as a team player

Competencies & Skills:
Competencies and skills required to perform this job include strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, teamwork and multi-tasking skills.  Additional competencies required for this position include ability to pay close attention to detail and computer knowledge.
