Base Rate of Pay: $17.8384 per hour
JOB SUMMARY:
The Team Attendant is a member of the perioperative care team and is assigned to work with the Nursing staff and Physicians to provide non-professional support to patients and patient care staff. The Team Attendant is also responsible for providing support within the Operating Rooms (O.R.), and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (P.A.C.U.) for various housekeeping, portering duties and maintenance of supplies and equipment in an aseptic environment.
Responsible for maintaining a neat, clean, safe environment while assisting with portering needs of the patient within the scope of practice for Team Attendant. Assist other members of the patient care team in preparation and maintenance of the perioperative environment before, during and following the surgical procedure. All roles are essential in providing a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and others by ensuring that health and safety policies are followed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School or general education degree (GED) required.
- Personal Support Worker certification from an accredited community college required.
- Related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience an asset.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret English language documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Demonstrated ability to write routine reports and correspondence in the English language.
- Utilizes effective communication skills with team members.
- Provides feedback to nursing staff of patient requests/needs.
- Communicates changing work priorities to co-workers.
- Establishes positive rapport with patients/families and team members.
- Collaborates with centralized departments to obtain services, e.g., housekeeping/linen.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset.
