This position will have the opportunity to work from home in one of the following locations: GUELPH, LONDON OR HAMILTON
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Rehabilitation Services in Regina, this position develops and manages the rehabilitation claims for claimants in Ontario. This position will allow you to work from home and will require travel between 25 to 50% of the time with occasional overnight travel required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess long term and short term disability claimants for rehabilitation potential, formulate a strategy; develop and implement a rehabilitation plan.
- Communicate and negotiate directly with claimants, employer, policyholders, treatment team including physicians regarding rehabilitation and return to work programs.
- Manage an assigned caseload while adhering to department service standards.
- Contract external services to develop/facilitate rehabilitation and return to work programs.
- Perform onsite visits with claimants, employers & physicians.
- Gather statistical data for client reports and renewal meetings.
- Work in partnership with Disability Case Managers to manage files.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
1. Diploma or degree in vocational rehabilitation, occupational therapy, physical therapy or behavioural sciences is required supplemented by courses in work rehabilitation, vocational assessment and psychology would be an asset.
2. Over 3 years of proven rehabilitation case management experience preferably within the insurance industry. Previous work from home experience is a definite asset.
3. Proven decision making, analytical and problem solving skills.
4. Excellent organization and multitasking ability.
5. Proficient working knowledge of PC's and Microsoft Office.
6. Good understanding of group insurance.
7. Bilingualism an asset.
