UNIX Administrator (#117175)Our Calgary based client has an immediate need for a UNIX Administrator
Reporting to the IT Enterprise Services Manager and Part of the Enterprise Service group that supports multiple services, UNIX (AIX operating system), IBM P series Servers, IBM Tivoli TSM, IBM Disk & Tape storage, Linux , Sap Basis, Lotus Domino and Oracle.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
.Installation of hardware, software and applications on UNIX platform;
.Supporting HACMP clustering;
.Supporting Bladecentre IVM and VIO's;
.Script in UNIX shell and with Perl;
.Troubleshooting hardware and network related problems;
.Respond to the functional requirements with solid specifications which follow best practices;
.Work closely with other team members and business clients to creatively and cost-effectively improve existing and develop new IT tools that support critical business processes;
.Evaluating software programs and making suggestions for their improvement;
.Overseeing the daily performance of the company's computer systems;
.Oversee system operational monitoring.
Education / Experience Requirements:
.College or University completion and/or equivalent work experience
.3 - 5 years related experience;
.Solid understanding of UNIX with a preference on AIX Operating System;
.Solid shell scripting skills, Perl scripting would also be advantageous;
.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
.Ability to manage multiple assignments, aggressive targets and critical deadlines;
.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing;
.Self-motivated; ability and self-discipline to work in a multi fast paced environment;
.Complete workloads in priority without constant supervision.
Preferred Experience:
.Understanding of IBM Tivoli TSM;
.Understanding of IBM Disk & Tape Storage;
.Understanding of P series class servers;
.Understanding of TCP/IP networking.
