We are presently seeking to fill the following position for an established Assisted living retirement community:

 

DIRECTOR OF CARE

Governor's Walk, Retirement Home, Ottawa  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

This position requires an energetic, caring mature and positive, individual who truly enjoys seniors. Our Director of Care is an individual who can conduct the overall operations of the care component of our facility, providing the best quality of care and services to our residents who choose to call Governor's walk their Home.

 

Job requirements

  • Supervises the work of nurses, nursing assistants and attendants. Oversees the allocation of tasks based on employees' respective qualifications. Establishes schedules and conducts periodic performance appraisals.
  • Dispense medications - experience with electronic meds system an asset
     Experience and understanding of ORCA accreditation an asset.
  • Analyzes and assesses overall nursing care and care delivered to residents with respect to their profile. Supervises the application, quality and continuity of care. Analyzes complaints, proposes solutions and formulates recommendations to management.
  • Supervises the coordination of activities with the various public-sector healthcare organizations, such as hospitals, community health clinics and government ministries, in order to ensure that the proper level of services is provided for the well-being and care of residents.
  • Will be required to act as  General Manager/ Marketing manager in his or her Absence 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

. Undergraduate degree or college diploma in nursing;

. Member of the Nursing Association of Ontario;

. 5 years of experience, including 2 to 3 years in a management position;

. Bilingualism (French and English), written and spoken; an asset

. Experience in geriatrics is an asset;

. Good knowledge of computers; (Word, Excel and Outlook);

. Ability to adapt easily to change and multi-task;

. Ability to work cooperatively within a team;

. Good sense of judgement and ability to implement solutions;
