SCOPE:
• Plan, design, analyze and implement mid to large scale deployment of reliability initiatives.
• Utilize your proficiency in techniques and methodologies to determine the reliability of components, equipment, and processes.
• Consider the impacts on availability, repair/replacement costs and spare parts inventory to resolve and avoid future problematic recurrences.
KEY AREA OF CONTRIBUTION:
• Provide information, data and recommendations concerning maintenance issues and activities in order to optimize Bitumen Production systems and equipment.
• Development of maintenance strategies and reliability programs of systems and equipment.
• Work with cross-functional teams to resolve reliability problems that transcend other areas of the Bitumen production chain.
Types of equipment and process you would be working with may include any of the following:
• Piping corridors
• Ore Preparation - Dry (Crushing)
• Ore Preparation - Wet (mix hot water and ore product slurry)
• Extraction - Flotation (primary separation process)
• Tailings processes (high heat chemical extraction)
• Froth Feed and IPS (Inclined Plate Settlers)
• Naphtha Recovery Unit (NRU)
• Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU)
• Cyclones (separation process)
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assemble and analysis of basic reliability data from field studies or data base, and correlates the data of analysis using well defined engineering techniques/principles/procedures.
• Focus on safety, cost reduction and reliability.
• Planning, deployment and maintenance of equipment/systems performance improvement initiatives related to Bitumen Production.
• Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodologies performance review and auditing.
• PM management process audit, review and recommendations.
• Contribution to the spare parts optimization program.
• Interface between all departments/project teams to support BP maintenance function and activities.
• Performs studies of equipment/process failures and elaborates formal reports of recommendation sand actions to improve reliability.
• Assist other in root cause failures analysis to avoid future failures.
• Applies standard company procedures for use of reliability analysis specific to the product/process in his/her area of responsibility.
• Follows company safety and health guidelines and other company policies.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Education & Experience:
• An Engineering degree is required. Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical or Industrial is an asset.
• Strong Planning/Scheduling skills.
• Preventive Maintenance (PM) Management skills including alertness, keeping up the pace, establishing routines and procedures.
• 15+ years experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 2+ years in an operating facility.
• Provide expertise/technical support on a routine basis to achieve:
o Effectiveness of reliability programs
o Adequate measure of performance and availability
• Familiarized with FMEA, RCA, RCM, RBI, practices.
• Experience with RAM Analysis (RELIABILITY, AVAILABILITY, MAINTENABILITY) is an asset.
• Conduct equipment history reviews to identify the reliability "bad actors" and recommend the action plan to tackle them ( i.e.: FMEA, RCFA).
• Knowledgeable on WCB and Alberta OH&S rules and regulations.
• Experience with condition-based maintenance, Oil and Lube programs is an asset.
• Conduct regular reviews to asset performance improvement programs to identify problems and opportunities to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Competent on CMMS (JD Edwards and asset).
• Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in Alberta is required.
• Experience with reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) is an asset.
• Previous experience with rotating and static equipment is an asset.
