The Head of Architecture will report to the Chief Architect of CCS with a dual reporting line to the CTO, CCS Canada. The individual will be accountable for the development of a technology roadmap which provides the optimum operating platform for Chase as a part of the broader JPMorgan & Chase operation. The accountability will include architecture oversight for applications, infrastructure & data in concert the business' aggressive growth agenda.
- Contribute to the establishment of a technology vision and roadmap that aligns with the business needs of the credit card organization in Canada
- Will participate in the development of international architectural strategies for Card Services IT
- Work closely with business leaders and subject matter experts to identify and maximize opportunities to utilize available technology to improve business processes
- Demonstrate excellent management discipline, optimizing the portfolio of technologies, tools, products, and applications
- Provide architectural stewardship for new development, enhancement to existing platform, quality assurance, and production support
- Partner with other technology leaders and architects within the broader firm to identify points of leverage, integration, and resource sharing opportunities
- Develop and maintain technology standards for the credit card business ensuring compliance with internal and external control programs such as audit, regulatory compliance, information security, technology risk management, and business continuity/disaster recovery
- Evangelize movement towards technology target state throughout the department and line of business
- Provide architecture approaches for all technology investment projects, ensuring an efficient movement towards approved target state goals and in according with department best practices.
- Recommend architectural standards and best practices for the enterprise
- Ensure changes to the environment generated by the department are compatible and compliant to architectural and infrastructure standards
Other responsibilities include:
- Participate in architectural reviews for projects as the architecture representative; guide departmental projects through Architectural Review Board reviews at the appropriate checkpoints.
- Research and test products and tools in a controlled, cost-effective manner.
- Ensure cost-effectiveness on recommended courses of action through ROI.
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively and efficiently through department, as well as the central architecture group.
- Engage business teams and vendors in developing technology/product strategies and plans.
- Establish strategic guidelines that maximize value to the business, for the investment.
Minimum qualifications include:
- 5+ years experience in architecture oversight for applications and infrastructure
- Experience working with business leaders and subject matter experts to identify and maximize opportunities to utilize available technology to improve business processes
- Experience in the financial services industry
- Development or Operations experience to include large scale development projects, Internet development experience, and large integration projects
- Experience with robust, operationally sound production environments
- Knowledge of software project lifecycle and Change Management
- Demonstrated ability to investigate and learn new technologies and products
- Strong understanding of distributed environments including Unix, NT, Data, Application and Web servers
