SCOPE:
Through fluid communication with project, process, and discipline engineers the Electrical Engineer will collaborate with contactors to provide technical expertise to Horizon Oil Sands. 

KEY AREAS OF CONTRIBUTION:
The Electrical Engineer will complete all specialty related engineering deliverables on time and budget while ensuring all applicable standards, best practices, specifications and regulations are met.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide electrical equipment specification, installation, design and prepare construction work packages for small plant additions or modifications requiring electrical power
• Supervise and coordinate the efforts of the Contractor(s) in their area of specialty, ensuring that the contractor performs diligently all his obligations under the contract (Quality, schedule and cost)
• Analyze and bring to the Project Engineer and Project Manager's attention any instruction to the Contractor(s) that may affect scope of work, schedule, costs and /or applicable standards-specifications
• Coordinate the participation of various Canadian Natural groups, ensuring input provided to the contractors is complete, timely and in accordance with the roles and responsibilities defined in the approved RACI charts
• Participate in the bid package preparation and in the review of the various bids for EPC phase of the project
• Foster a technically productive and open link of communication with the other project teams within Upgrading and Utilities business unit and others that may influence or be influenced by the teams activities
• Coordinate and/or perform electrical design and engineering, producing construction work packages for plant changes and sustaining capital projects in the business unit.
• Participate in trouble shooting, analysis and resolution of operating maintenance and reliability issues on electrical equipment in Upgrading and Utilities

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Education & Experience:
• APEGGA Registered Professional Engineer
• 10 years electrical engineering experience in a maintenance or operating environment within a Oil Sands Facility
• Hands on experience working with and directing Contractors and EPC firms

• Proven analytical abilities enabling you to consider the details and complexities of the issues while seeking to resolve conflicts and bottlenecks
• Business focused combined with the ability to accurately and persuasively communicate information and ideas

• Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited
• Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards
• Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply;
• Report any injury or illness immediately;
• Report unsafe acts and conditions;
• Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and is worn where and when required.
