Senior Product Manager, Windows Server
The Opportunity:
Develop, plan and execute strategic marketing initiatives to drive Microsoft Canada's unit, revenue and market share objectives for Windows server products (all license types and product variants). Take ownership of product evangelism, content development and delivery, for Microsoft Canada.
Responsibilities:
Evangelize strategic product positioning and information on the Windows server to customers in leveraged marketing and sales opportunities. These will include press initiatives, public relations, seminars and solutions briefings, and high profile trade/industry events.
Drive Channel marketing and sales strategies on the Windows server in cooperation with key staff in the relevant Customer Units.
Own and deliver product marketing content and messages for all initiatives for the Windows server products, including content for public relations, advertising, event and seminar presentations and initiatives involving strategic third parties.
Develop marketing plans, marketing budget allocations, and give final approval for product launch planning and presentation content through liaison with our Advertising and PR Agencies.
Create the forecast and take ownership in the business for Windows server revenues. Liaise with Business Analysts to develop and effectively track key market share and channel business metrics.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of the competitive marketplace, including relevant market share data on our competition, and through maintaining relationships with key Industry Analysts and Channel Partners to enable opportunity-based marketing initiatives.
Engage in personal continuous improvement and technical education, with the goal of developing technical competency on the security and management server products through MCP designations, marketing competencies through third party education, and Public Relations competency through refresher training.
Maintain a high level of integration and contact with Microsoft Corporate program/product management teams to better engage in leverageable corporate marketing campaigns and programs for platform marketing in Canada.
Build a strong working knowledge of Microsoft's strategic systems, applications and corporate directions with the goal of being able to confidently evangelize our vision and product strategies to corporate customers at all appropriate levels of decision-making, partners, press and analysts.
Develop and maintain personal and business objectives for the Fiscal Year, in accordance with the overall goals and direction established by the Manager, The Canadian Server Business Group Team, and the Canadian Strategic Management Team.
Maintain appropriate monthly activity and status reports as defined by management.
Qualifications:
A Four Year University degree in Engineering, Business or Computer Sciences
6+ years Computer Industry experience in Marketing, Technical Sales, or Systems Engineering
Working experience with the press
Microsoft Certified Professional designation, or equivalent, a strong asset
A comprehensive knowledge of PC based Server application software technology, with a broad knowledge of Information Systems Technology and Strategies, Client Server Computing and Business Planning and Strategy Development
Very good interpersonal/communications skills
Strong leadership and people skills
Strong business acumen and analytical skills
Ability to manage a heavy workload in a demanding environment
Well-balanced time management skills
Bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset
Business-to-business marketing experience a strong asset.
