INTERNAL AUDIT MANAGER (TSX LISTED, MINING INDUSTRY, $115K-$130K)
Our client is a TSX traded gold mining company. Due to internal growth and record highs in the precious metal industry, there is an opening for an Internal Audit Manager.
As a Manager, you will work with Senior Management in managing audit risks, internal controls, and corporate governance. Your will be counted on as a leader, mentor, and team player, and your work will be recognized and rewarded in a meaningful way.
This is an ideal opportunity for a Chartered Account looking to broaden their experience and understanding of how a major mine operates (but still values the culture of a junior).
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and corporate governance
- Plan and execute the annual audit plan (including periodic changes to policies and procedures)
- Work across multiple departments and levels, educating and promoting the importance of Internal Audit and Sarbanes Oxley
- Manage and supervise internal audit staff and consultants
- Act as a subject matter expert to the Director of Audit, CFO, Audit Committee Members, and external auditors
- Ad Hoc projects based on work load, experience, and career paths
Requirements:
- Canadian Chartered Accountant designation (CA)
- Over five years experience working for/in a public company environment (including time spent in public accounting)
- Must be able to work independently or with a team, under time sensitive and fast paced environments
- Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley, with a proven track record for designing, testing, and managing compliance
- Critical decision making capabilities, with a pro-active mentality
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal), interacting with multiple levels of the organization and external stakeholders
- Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 35%)
- Fluency in French considered an asset
