Mobile Application Platform Specialist

Job Description:

Our client is currently looking to fill an opening for a Mobile Application Specialist. The successful candidate should be comfortable with:
- Developing and maintaining Wireless Terminal OS (e.g. Windows Mobile, Symbian UIQ/S60, Java ME, Android, Linux, Limo, RIM, Palm, etc) technical specifications based on Business requirements from our clients Application Vendors.
- Overseeing and providing support for developing Test Plans as they pertain to wireless Terminal OS support on terminals.
- Managing and running vendor technical compliance meetings prior to a vendor starting development of a wireless terminal for our client
- Supporting terminal vendors in meeting our clients technical specifications during the development cycle
- Working closely with industry sponsors (e.g. Microsoft for Windows Mobile, Google/ OHA for android, Sun Microsystems for Java ME, etc) and wireless terminal OEMs to develop and maintain related OS technology roadmaps.
- Proactively engaging with Product Development and client Application Vendors to gather further terminal requirements and help solve business issues with the innovative use of technology.
- Overseeing the identification of wireless terminal OS issues and track to resolution with vendors or project managers.

Desired Qualifications:

- University degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/Telecommunications
- Relevant OS-based device development and/or OS-based application development experience highly desired, e.g.:
- For windows mobile, a strong knowledge of:
- Smartphone, PocketPC, Windows CE platforms
- Logo Certification requirements and testing of windows mobile devices (LTK/WMTK, Hopper, DaysOfUse, etc.)
- The Tux test harness (TUX) and ability to build tux DLL modules for custom test cases in WMTK will be preferred
- Hopper+FocusApp testing AppVerifi, Platform Builder.
- For Android, a strong knowledge of:
- Java programming language
- Davlik Platform
- Various Android platform varieties
For Java ME, strong knowledge of:
- Java programming language
- Mobile/ wireless JSRs
- Java Community Process
- Strong understanding of software development practices and concepts (e.g., object-oriented design, shared libraries, software integration testing).
- Capable of participating in complex projects through cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal, particularly in the area of technical writing.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Well organized and detail-oriented.
- Self-motivated, pro-active, challenge0driven individual
- Strong desire to learn and work in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.
- 7 or more years of related OS wireless development experience
- Must have expert understanding of one or more wireless OS environments.
