Our client is a leader in the food processing / packaging industry and is looking for Chief Operator -Refrigeration A mechanic / 2nd class Power engineer for their food processing / packaging facility in Calgary, AB. 

 

The ideal candidate would have worked in a Chief Operator role for a minimum of 3 years preferably in a food plant and has a valid 2nd class power engineer's / Refrigeration A license. This position is responsible for preventive maintenance Ammonia refrigeration equipment and dealing with outside vendors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Planning and execution of Ammonia refrigeration  equipment
  • Manage the required  outside contractors
  • Manage and maintain all high risk equipment
  • Ensure daily plant and engine room readings are taken and recorded
  • Respond to all breakdowns related to heating and steam
  • Responsible for plant HVAC
  • Continuously improve the engine room function
  • Monitor pressure gauges, amp meters, thermometers and adjust controls to maintain specific condition such as feed rate, product temperature and machine speed.
  • Review documented records and act on highlighted issues and or concerns.
    - Be able to identify proper refrigerant to use and charge required to maintain system stability.
  • Active in and promoter of the health and safety of employees.

 

Key Requirements:

  • 2nd class stationary engineers license / Refrigeration A license
  • Minimum of 3 years as a operator  in a food plant
  • Experience in Ammonia is a must
  • Strong Leadership and communication skills (both Verbal, Written and Electronic); Ability to interact with different levels of business.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage preventive maintenance programs combined with planning, analytical & organizational skills
