Finance Head
Position Overview:
Our client is a
Canadian Asset Manager that provides investment management services to
institutional and high net worth investors utilizing Hedge Fund strategies.
Having experienced significant growth since their inception in 2009, the
organization is now seeking an experienced finance professional to provide
financial leadership in a CFO or Controller/VP Finance dependent upon
experience.
CFO: Reporting
to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer will be a member of
the senior management team with responsibility for directing financial matters
and strategy at the Firm. Responsibilities include accounting, financial
reporting, tax compliance and the management of annual audits for the Funds and
managed accounts, as well as the Firm and its related companies.
Controller/VP Finance: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the
Controller/VP Finance will be responsible for accounting, financial reporting,
tax compliance and the management of annual audits for the Funds and managed
accounts, as well as the Firm and its related companies.
Responsibilities:
CFO:
·
Coordinate,
develop and direct financial planning, budgeting, strategic and operational
plans for the Firm
·
Support
the CEO and other members of senior management in the coordination and planning
of strategic initiatives
·
Work
with Senior Management to identify and address key business risks
·
Participate
in investor relations and client due diligence initiatives
Both the CFO and Controller/VP Finance:
·
Maintain
in-house accounting records for the Funds, managed accounts and the Firm
·
Manage
relationships with the Firm's fund administrator, prime brokers and auditor
·
Complete
monthly Net Asset Value reconciliations with the official books and records of
the Funds and managed accounts maintained by the fund administrator
·
Produce
unaudited interim financial statements and coordinate the annual audits for the
Funds, managed accounts and the Firm
·
Supervise
financial reporting to clients and securities regulatory authorities
·
Oversee
tax compliance of the Firm and the Funds, including the preparation and filing
of tax returns and tax slips for limited partners in the domestic Fund
·
Provide
research and education regarding new developments in accounting and tax rules
and regulations and industry standards
·
Work
with the Chief Compliance Officer to maintain financial compliance with
registration requirements under applicable securities regulation
·
Manage
the system of internal controls over financial operations and reporting Work with the Firm's Computer Programmer and
Investment Analysts to develop and improve upon portfolio analytics and
database tools
·
Participate
in special projects and initiatives
Qualifications:
·
Canadian
Chartered Accountant designation
·
For CFO: A
minimum of five years' experience, including at an audit firm and in-house at
an investment management firm or fund administrator
·
For Controller / VP Finance: A minimum of two years' experience in the investment
management industry, either in-house or at an audit firm with investment
fund/asset management clients
