Coordinator Copyright

What the job is: 

Sony Music Canada is looking to fill a one year contract in our Copyright Department.  As the Coordinator, Copyright you will play a key role in liaising with music publishers and copyright agencies, analyzing and interpreting contracts and copyright processing. 

This is a contract position for one year.

Responsibilities include: 

• Research publishing information & initiate license requests for new releases
• Input publisher licenses and rates in the copyright system
• Respond to publisher’s queries in a professional manner
• Assist with quarterly statement rendering
• Prepare cheque requisitions for publisher advances
• Review artist and producer contracts and interpret licensing terms to accurately update the copyright system
• Special copyright projects as requested

What you need: 

The ideal candidate should possess a University degree/Business diploma in business administration/finance with preferred 1-2 years experience working in a finance department, copyright/royalty experience would be an asset.  Basic accounting knowledge is necessary. 

In order to be successful in this role you will need experience with mainframe applications in a PC environment as well as intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.  Accuracy is key in this role and strong organizational and analytical skills with aptitude for numbers are a must.  We are looking for a candidate with a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills and strong communication skills.
