Assistant Construction Manager - 18739 (#26120)Our Edmonton client requires an Assistant Construction Manager to join their team.
In this role, you will provide constructability and construction management expertise, both practical and technical, inclusive of strategic focus on the objectives of; least total installed project costs, fit for purpose quality and functionality, safety, environmental, code and/or regulatory permit compliance during capital project development, conceptual and detailed design reviews, as well as the management of Fabrication and Module Assembly construction.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate constructability support of the conceptual and detailed design of capital projects, inclusive of critiquing designs, advising on least cost alternative contracting strategies, construction specifications, construction practices, quality assurance and control practices, alternative construction schedules etc.
- Participating in creating, and maintain the project specific construction execution plan.
- Assist with the development of the construction contract(s).
- Consistently apply knowledge and expertise to assessing alternatives, impacts, outcomes, etc. of construction management decisions such that they are well explored commensurate with the magnitude and implications of potential decision, complete, and correct relative to the project constraints and objectives during the planning stage of the project.
- Assure prudent and value added construction management expertise and practices are employed, inclusive of:
- Detailed construction execution planning c/w effective construction management of related field execution resources, definition of roles, accountabilities, schedules, related costs, assumptions and risks.
- Prudent and diligent daily direction and supervision of Construction Coordinators and other resources supporting construction management of a project.
- Assure regulatory compliance and quality control aspects of designs.
- Continuous, timely and effective constructability input.
- Effective communications and coordination with functional operational departments.
- Provide weekly and monthly construction management reporting to the Construction Manager * Facilities.
Qualifications:
- P.Eng. R.P.T. or R.E.T. designation is preferable. Other combination of trade and technical education combined with extensive applicable experience will be considered.
- A minimum of fifteen years of progressively responsible pipeline facilities construction experience involving significant field inspection and/or management roles including many of the key execution activities of pipeline facilities construction is essential.
- A technical and working knowledge of design and construction codes such as CSA Z662, AEUB, etc. is required.
- Highly effective interpersonal skill with proven ability to work with diverse groups and individual personalities is required (project team, external stakeholders engineering contractor's resources.)
- Proven planning, organizing, problem solving, decision making and negotiating skills, supplemented with a practical aptitude.
- Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, with a proven ability to work in a matrix environment.
- Ability to pro-actively influence events and to be assertive as required to ensure the company's best interests while assessing immediate, long term and holistic impacts.
