Senior Estimator (#241214)

SENIOR ESTIMATOR

Randstad Engineering has a growing demand for qualified seasoned estimators who are interested in working on contract at various clients across the GTA. This is an ideal opportunity to leverage your years of experience and truly accomplish that work life balance we are all looking for. Establish how many hours you would like to work, type of projects you are most familiar with and we will take care of the rest!

Our clients are well established and often national organization, who depend on us to provide quality estimator support as required. These are clients with great reputations, culture as well as a great work environment. They build various projects from 30K to over 60 million in construction cost. They are located throughout the GTA and have built a number of flag ships projects within the ICI market.

Responsibilities:
. Provides thorough take-off and cost estimates for various sizes of I.C.I. Projects
. Prepares complete tender documents starting with bonding requirements to the final tendering price.
. Provides clear direction to estimating team members and distributes workload to capitalize on individual and group strengths while ensuring balanced exposure to work experience and development opportunities
. Analyzes plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare bid estimates for projects, performs complete estimates on selected projects consisting of project site visit, quantity take-off, pricing, and presentation of the estimate for management review
. Manages all aspects of budgeting and bidding
. Evaluates and presents or supports the presentation of estimate proposals
. Assists in the selection and maintenance of subcontractors within a database
. Provides guidance for non-estimating personnel on their estimating related requirements
. Researches and analyzes cost data for review and presentation to management
. Interfaces and communicates effectively (written and oral) with other estimating staff, all levels of management, clients and Industry contacts; contacts and develops business relationships with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing within estimates
. Manages bids and leads the team in estimating assignments

Required Skills and Experience:
. Completion of post secondary education with a diploma or degree related to Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Engineering or related education
. 10+ years estimating construction experience on either LumpSum and/or Construction Management format
. Has developed technical knowledge of modern construction practices, techniques and equipment
. Knowledge of construction costs and budgets, ability to develop project schedule
. Strong understanding of construction documents and the ability to assess their completeness
. Ability to identify problems/issues, looks beyond the immediate problem to the wider implications and generates new solutions to complex problems
. Ability to act as a facilitator and mentor, moves the team forward, may be a team leader or conduct performance management meetings for supporting or professional staff
. Ability to close complex tenders/bids and proposals
. Assesses estimates for potential risk
. Strong computer background including experience with MS Office and related estimating software
