Performance Analyst

Job Overview: JOB PURPOSE
This is a position within the Performance Team in the Investment Services Group. The Performance Analyst's responsibilities will include validating/providing the performance returns which are used in RFPs and marketing presentations, maintaining external consultant databases and the production of various performance reports including portfolio attribution analysis.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES . Identify and analyze the differences in performance calculations (versus a benchmark and/or returns within the same asset class) for the different portfolios within the firm. . Produce monthly/quarterly performance reports on special accounts that are required by other departments. . Ensure that the quantitative information is loaded accurately and in a timely manner into the external consultant databases. . Responsible for activities related to performance attribution including: o Updating required databases in the performance attribution system; o Adjustments following a change in investment policy; o Validation of results obtained and production of monthly reports; o Implementation of new accounts. . Assist in the monthly upkeep of the composites in order to remain GIPS compliant. . Respond to requests and individual needs of managers in a thorough manner, carrying out performance analysis and providing appropriate interpretation of results. . Complete special projects and/or assignments, as may be assigned. . Propose solutions to improve efficiency of existing process and quality of service offered to clients. . Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all reports

WORKING CONDITIONS . The working hours are restrictive because of the timely nature of the job. The incumbent's work day will start at 7:30AM and finish at 4:00PM. . This role operates within a normal office environment with little exposure to adverse working conditions. . Build and maintain professional working relationships with Portfolio Managers, Client Service representatives, and Business Controls while being cognizant of the importance of independent judgment and autonomy. . Must adapt to new concepts and technology easily. . Work in a noisy distracting environment. . Prioritizing and organizing workflow to meet deadlines.
Requirements: COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES . As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS . Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Finance, University degree with specialization in finance or a closely related field. . CIPM designation completed or in progress. . CFA designation completed or in progress. . Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is an asset. . 1-3 years experience in the investment and/or financial services industry. . A solid understanding of the investment industry is required. . Experience with any type of commercially available performance system, i.e. SS&C Sylvan, PCBond, Eagle Performance, Robust Performance and working knowledge of FMC (asset) . Good knowledge of international products and derivatives. . Advanced skills in Excel are an asset. (use of macros) . Autonomy, initiative, sense of responsibility and organizational skills are required. . Capacity to meet deadlines and to work under pressure. . Excellent communication skills. . Thorough and results oriented. . Strong attention to detail. . Bilingualism - spoken and written.
