Mortgage Advisor - Montreal Center and East
Business Unit Description: Retail Markets provides a full range of financial products and services to almost 11 million personal, small business and wealth clients, as well as investment management services globally to retail and institutional clients. With approximately 28,000 employees, CIBC Retail Markets has a broad distribution network serving clients through more than 1,000 branches, as well as CIBC Wood Gundy offices and President's Choice Financial in-store pavilions. Clients also have 24/7 access to telephone banking, online banking and online brokerage, as well as to Canada's second largest ABM network.
CIBC Mortgages, Lending & Insurance (CMLI) acts as CIBC's manufacturer of mortgage, lending and insurance products. Using a multi-brand/multi-channel strategy, CMLI is responsible for the development, distribution, servicing and profitability of various mortgage brands & distribution channels (CIBC Residential Mortgages, FirstLine Mortgages, PCF Mortgages, Home Loans Canada and Mortgage Center Canada) as well as CIBC Lending & Insurance products (home equity and personal loans, lines of credit, overdrafts and creditor insurance).

Job Overview: Job Purpose: Reporting to the Area Sales Leader, the Mortgage Advisor's primary objective is to grow and cultivate a referral network for an assigned territory that will generate a target of approximately $5 to $10 million in CIBC mortgage production annually.
Major Activities: - Achieve sales targets across all parameters of the business plan. - Be available to meet clients at times that are convenient for them such as in their home or at their office. - Interview and take applications, obtain all pertinent personal and credit information, confirm employment, salary and source of down payment and submit application with recommendation for approval. - Actively promote CIBC Life Insurance product. - Meet and exceed minimum monthly mortgage sales targets of $500,000. - Establish reciprocal business relationships with real estate firms and other reputable business sources for the purpose of identifying suitable customer prospects for residential mortgage financing. - Ensure service excellence. - Develop business plan with Area Sales Leader. - Developing and managing relationships with external referral partners. - Work with internal partner referral sources.
Cross-Functional Relationships: - Internal partners across CIBC including CML and Retail Distribution Branches. - Mortgage Insurers, Realtors, referral partners and industry associations.
Working Conditions: - This role operates within a home office environment. - This role requires extensive travel.
Requirements: - Must be able to prospect and develop your own sources of mortgage referrals from a variety of sources such as Realtors, Builders, Financial Services Companies, etc. - Demonstrated time management and planning skills with an ability to organize the day with activities that contribute to the overall goal of mortgage production. - Proven track record of mortgage sales, or other credit product, with a sound understanding of the local market. - In-depth experience in Real Estate Lending and knowledge of underwriting guidelines. - Proven verbal and written communication skills. - Must be extremely flexible and adaptable and love working in a fast-paced business environment with changing priorities. - Previous experience working in a mortgage sales environment dealing with complex home financing.
