Credit Counsellor

Business Unit Description:
Retail Markets provides a full range of financial products and services to almost 11 million personal, business and wealth clients, as well as investment management services globally to retail and institutional clients.

CIBC Retail Markets has a broad distribution network serving clients through close to 1,100 branches, as well as CIBC Wood Gundy offices and President's Choice Financial in-store pavilions. Clients also have 24/7 access to telephone banking, online and mobile banking and online brokerage, as well as to Canada's second largest ABM network.

Collections is responsible for receivables management. They handle over $5 billion worth of receivables on behalf of CIBC's retail products, including Amicus, Card Products and CIBC Mortgages and Lending (CML). They also manage the recovery process with over 60 third-party suppliers (e.g. collection agencies, law firms, real estate agencies, etc.)


Relevant Job Criteria:
- We have 12 regular Full Time positions at 37.5 hrs/week to offer. Positions will start on AUGUST 14, 2012
- Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday from 8am - 8pm and Saturdays from 8am - 4pm.
- Candidates will be required to work Tuesday to Friday from 12pm - 8pm and Saturdays from 8am - 4pm
- The training program will take place over a period of 8 weeks, and will include both theoretical in class training, as well as practice over the phone.
- The annual salary range is between 31,250$ & 40, 000$
-The training will start on August 14th, 2012 at noon.

Compensation for this role is competitive and based on your receivables experience. Candidates with relevant receivables management experience in a call centre environment may be eligible for a higher base wage. Employees may also be eligible to increase their monetary compensation with an annual bonus based on business results and individual performance.

Accountabilities :

*Establishes contact with customers and develops a high quality, service oriented relationship in order to ensure that the customer is aware of a variety of retail products and repayment options that are available to potentially service outstanding debts.
*Operating in an automated dialer, the credit counselor will be in charge of:

-Negotiating payment arrangements.
-Determines payment arrangements and facilitates changes when required.
-Provides advice to prevent further delinquencies.
-Offers and accepts settlements where applicable to reduce losses to CIBC
-Makes recommendations and arrangements to the repossession of the loan security, seizure of bank accounts and legal action and ensures the property is disposed of by the most cost effective method.
-Maintains positive working relationships with colleagues internal and external to the bank.
-Participates actively and effectively as a contributing team member to brainstorm problems/issues and achieve financing objectives.
-Assists in the development and training of team members through mentoring/peer coaching
- Ensures customer understands terms and conditions of contract, responds to customer inquiries and, where appropriate, arranges to provide additional information either through branch, telephone or written correspondence to achieve mutually satisfactory arrangements.
