Financial Advisor, Business - 50th Street

Business Unit Description:
Retail Markets provides a full range of financial products and services to almost 11 million personal, business and wealth clients, as well as investment management services globally to retail and institutional clients.

CIBC Retail Markets has a broad distribution network serving clients through close to 1,100 branches, as well as CIBC Wood Gundy offices and President's Choice Financial in-store pavilions. Clients also have 24/7 access to telephone banking, online and mobile banking and online brokerage, as well as to Canada's second largest ABM network.


Relevant Job Criteria:
- Full Time: 37.5 hrs/week.
- Work days: Tuesday to Saturday.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

Job Overview:
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the General Manager, High Value (GM) in Retail Distribution, the Financial Advisor Business (FAB) manages a portfolio of small business customers by meeting the total banking needs of business and personal customers. This position is an ideal choice for a seasoned, result-oriented individual that can sustain and grow relationships with CIBC's Small Business clients. You will become a trusted advisor to our small business clients, providing financial advice on both their personal and small business needs to help them achieve what matters to them.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

. Establish and maintain strong customer relationships in order to understand the small business customers' needs and objectives by:
. Proactively managing a portfolio of small business customers using relationship sales management skills and techniques to meet both personal and small business needs.
. Being responsible for all aspects of portfolio management, revenue growth and credit quality.
. Provide advice and financial solutions to meet the needs of small business customers by utilizing financial planning skills, assessing customer needs and by promoting and selling a full range of both personal and small business banking products.
. Improve the client experience by proactively communicating advice to customers, monitoring individual customer needs, resolving problems or issues, and following-up as appropriate.
. Lead business development activities through active involvement in the business community
. Establish and maintain effective partnerships and teamwork with small business colleagues and partners to deliver CIBC solutions to the customer
. Continuously update knowledge and skills in order to meet client needs and interaction preferences


Requirements:
KEY REQUIREMENTS

. Working knowledge of the small business banking industry and the needs of small business clients, current events, business affairs, trends in the marketplace, and the environment in which business is transacted locally.
. Well-developed knowledge of deposit, convenience, investment, credit products/services sufficient to sell and deliver the full range of personal products.
. Developed knowledge of the small business lifecycle, small business planning and financial statement analysis.
. Detailed working knowledge of estate planning, powers of attorney, wills, family trusts, creditor insurance and tax sufficient to provide customers with a general level of information on these products/services and refer them to appropriate professionals when applicable.
. Developed knowledge and ability to demonstrate sales management techniques and understanding of business strategies
. Well-developed knowledge of relationship selling skills, including spreads/pricing authorities, sufficient to manage a portfolio of small business customers business and personal needs.
. Well-developed knowledge of financial planning and the factors, which indicate financial position and goals and the ability to create financial plans to meet customer goals and objectives.
. Well developed ability to examine portfolio client base to identify potential for further business. Plan and execute a business development plan to acquire business clients in support of business unit objectives and CIBC strategies.
. Well-developed knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements to effectively manage risk.
. Well-developed interactive/presentation skills sufficient to communicate detailed factual and conceptual information/ideas to customers with sophisticated needs either on an individual basis or in a seminar format.
. Developed ability to establish and maintain good customer and colleague relationships through active listening, demonstrating empathy, diffusing emotions and the resolution of interpersonal conflicts.
