Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Business Unit Description: Technology: responsible for the delivery of technology in support of all CIBC businesses and customers. Directly aligns to CIBC's businesses, with a technology team for each business. Delivers world class solutions in support of business strategies, through a combination of in-house systems development and working with leading technology partners. This group also manages CIBC's core computing facilities, telecommunications and networks globally.
Technology Operations: responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Technology organization, focusing on an integrated approach to operations, service delivery, planning and the processes supporting CIBC. TO is also responsible for enterprise services such as email, Telecom, Disaster Recovery, Network Servers, Availability, Change Management and partnership with Hewlett Packard (HP).

Job Overview: PURPOSE OF JOB:
Provide subject matter expertise to medium/large projects/initiatives as they relate to engineering tasks part of the design, implementation and support of major BI infrastructure technology in a multi platform environment.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES:
. Provide technical leadership, standards and best practices to infrastructure teams during infrastructure design and build phases of initiatives/projects. . Determine standards and roadmaps for hardware and software . Decide how infrastructure is built and recommends infrastructure standards for organization wide initiatives based on area of expertise. . Conduct major studies regarding system usage, makes recommendations for improvements, and determines infrastructure system requirements. . Design, develop and test emerging hardware and infrastructure software solutions.
Requirements: KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Subject Matter Expertise: . Technical Troubleshooting--Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, and resolving technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems. . SAS suite of products (SAS BI and Base SAS ) ver 9.2 and 9.1.3 . Informatica suite of products ver 9
Mandatory skills: . Working knowledge and experience with Business Intelligence toolsets, primarily SAS products. . Working knowledge and experience with Web-based applications and services . Working knowledge and experience with security issues, solutions and products for both authentication and integrity for web applications. . General knowledge of database principles and applications (Oracle mainly) . General knowledge of UNIX principles and applications with the focus on Solaris. . General knowledge of Windows. . General knowledge of virtualization. . General knowledge of TCP/IP and DNS/CSS network principles and applications . General knowledge of high-availability and server clustering principles and technology . JOB COMPLEXITIES/CHALLENGES:
. Ownership of the design, plan and implementation of the SAS platforms supporting various SAS applications in the bank. . Resolving complex technical issues and/or engaging external expertise/resources as required to ensure resolution. Gathering anecdotal and factual information from a number of sources in order to formulate a root cause. . Refining business requirements, converting them to technical requirements and devising an appropriate infrastructure solution requires choosing from multiple technologies and ensuring that solutions stay within the guidelines of security/audit standards and conform to industry best practice. . Understanding various design patterns which can be leveraged in the design of a new environment and for applications are unique, extending and customizing each design solution. . Remaining current with evolving technological products and features and constantly changing business needs, internal standards and industry best practice. . Making technology decisions that determine availability of infrastructure.
