Electrical and Controls Engineer - Lead

Purpose of Role:

To organize and coordinate the electrical, controls and instrumentation engineering, design and drafting team assigned to the project and ensure quality work, technical excellence and the optimum use of personnel.

Scope:

. Ensure technical, administrative and business development needs of electrical and controls requirements of projects are met

Responsibilities:

. Establish a discipline specific task list and schedule that meets the requirements of the overall project schedule
. Organize and assign tasks to the engineering design team
. Initiate Trends and Change Notices pertaining to deviations in technical scope or schedule
. Review the Engineering Design for technical acceptability and conformance to project design criteria such as Design Basis Memorandums (DBMs) and specifications
. Review Engineering Calculations to ensure calculations are completed properly and that Client Quality procedures are followed
. Manage and organize interdisciplinary coordination and reviews
. Participate in process Hazard Analysis Studies
. Request all technical requirements from clients to complete the design
. Assist in the development of the overall project schedule in establishing linkages and resource loading
. Manage discipline hours and progress to meet project schedule
. Coordinate and report to the Project Engineer and Project Manager
. Coordinate with drafting/CADD supervisor to ensure timely production of drawings
. Attend Client and Project meetings and assist with preparation of project proposals
. Monitor Client Satisfaction through interaction with client and/or other contacts
. Report potential project opportunities to the business development team

Qualifications:

. P. Eng. status with APEGGA 8 to 10 years experience in oil and gas facility design in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin
. Broad range of experience is required and should include some or all of the following: High / Medium / Low Voltage design, control system design and Instrumentation design
. Experience with power system design and analysis is also an asset Good technical writing skills
. Experience leading a project team
. Experience with Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP) and basic knowledge of typical oil and gas processes is essential
