Structural Designer (#242600)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

. Participate in design review sessions
. Promote productivity enhancing initiatives to positively influence the project execution and/or design
. Conduct field surveys and preparing 'as-built' drawings
. Generate 2D drawings or 3D design models with high complexity
. Prepare design specifications, drawings, models and related calculations
. Provide mentorship and guidance to designers/drafters
. Interface with team members, other discipline members and customer
. Coordinate work between field and office
. Perform and review design work within discipline
. Prepare design and drafting procedures and standards
. Participate in selection of automation tools for design
. Conduct design review with project personnel and client
. Coordinate design activities with other disciplines and departments
. Coordinate off project design reviews with functional management and client
. Work with other to plan, budget, and schedule CADD deliverables with the discipline
. Participate in constructability reviews
. Participate in design clarification and conflict resolution in the field
. Produce complicated drawings and charts in a specialized field, involving planning, layout, bill of materials, etc. for major installations
. Design and detail new components from previous designs based on engineering instructions, government and regulatory codes
. Develop intermediate designs, layouts requiring theoretical and practical design knowledge in a specialized field
. Assist field forces during construction
. Check work of and assist in training of less experienced drafting personnel
. Report progress of work assignment to immediate supervisor
. Prepare layouts, calculations and designs related to the most complicated elements of projects
. Assist with engineering feasibility and cost studies
. Provide Standard and Typical Drawing feedback based on industry or project requirements to Supervisor for assessment as per PEM 4010
. Function as a participant on a special assignment; (i.e.: temporary assignment to work for estimating, proposals etc. to broaden experience base)
. Assist the project engineer in determining the detailed engineering design criteria to be employed by the design team
. Assign structural design work to other team members
. Ensure consistency and integrity of design throughout the project
. Attend project coordination meetings
. Ensure that all discipline deliverables are checked and verified
. Assist the lead structural engineer in developing specifications for structural work if required

EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:

. Technical Institute Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting
. Minimum 10+ Years of Experience
. Experience in Oil & Gas facility projects including some of the following areas: heavy oil facilities, well tie-ins, pipelines, compressor stations, and field gas processing facilities
. Knowledgeable with building codes
. Ability to coordinate other engineering disciplines required
. Strong ability to work with the following Autodesk software (AutoCAD, AutoSteel, ProSteel) required

. Self-Starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision
. Skilled in setting priorities and excels in a fast paced environment
