Safety Manager - Manufacturing (#242628)We are seeking a Safety Manager for a well established client of ours in the Food Manufacturing and Processing Industry. The Safety Manager is responsible for providing leadership for the planning, implementation, and operation of our clients Health and Safety Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:
. Review existing safety policies, procedures and programs for all operations (processing plants, unloading facilities, net loft / storage, warehouses, offices and operations)
. Work with plant management and oversee the claims management
. Act as the primary contact for all external regulatory bodies on issues relating to occupational health & safety
. Review accident investigation reports and return to work plans, assists with development of corrective actions and ensure closure of required actions
. Provide advice to managers and supervisors on occupational health and safety matters
. Develop in-house training programs, source external providers for specialized training and organize safety training including safety training as required by each location
. Conduct internal safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Provincial and Federal safety standards
. Bring safety related issues to the attention of plant management
. Keep the Human Resources Manager apprised of safety-related issues
. Compile and submit health & safety statistics and reports to senior management semi-annually or as required
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
. University degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
. At least 3 years experience managing the Health & Safety function
. Excellent working knowledge of Provincial & Federal Occupational Health & Safety legislation and Workers' Compensation
. Ability to relate to and work with people at all levels, both inside and outside the organization
. Ability to take direction and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
. Excellent written and oral communication skills
. Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member
. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
