Required intermediate litigation assistant/paralegal to work in downtown law firm with great atmosphere. Well established firm with "at home" feel. You will be working with one junior and one senior lawyer.
Must be adept with word processing and able to draft pleadings, documents and correspondence from dictation, precedent and on own. Candidate must have keen eye to detail and be able to produce accurate correspondence and documents in timely manner. Require ability to proofread outgoing documents for accuracy and ensure they comply with legal procedures. Knowledge of new rules and procedures required. Should have ability to access and use on-line legal resources. Must have good file management and exceptional organizational skills, which would enable her to act as right arm to the lawyers. Duties include booking Questionnings, court dates, JDRs, Pre-Trial Conferences, trial dates, scheduling client meetings, searches, registrations with Land Titles and Corporate Registry, meeting clients and responding to inquiries. Good communication skills required in order to liaise with other legal assistants, other lawyers and clients and update them on file progress. Also involves general administrative duties including entering timesheets and coordinating with billings, posting and some account reconciliation.
Candidates should have 5 years litigation experience in province. Candidate must possess sound judgment and initiative and be dedicated to providing quality service to clients. Strong diplomacy required in dealing with clients, ability to multi-task, establish priorities, work independently and have good problem-solving skills.
Salary commensurate with experience.
