Senior Document Specialist
Salary $35.77 - $38.88 per hour
Position Purpose Reporting to the Supervisor, Design and Communications, is responsible for simplifying messages behind environmental regulatory requirements to develop sustainable behaviours by residents and businesses; developing, designing, producing and distributing Departmental promotional material including, displays, newsletters, marketing and other material through hard copy publication and electronic media; leading project team to develop and maintain communication strategies, designs and format publications and establish standard document formats and design guidelines; providing communication advice to managers and staff in the use of standard design and communication guides; and working with Corporate Communications, when applicable, on projects and initiatives that may have implications for the Corporation.
Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing or a related field of study, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum three (3) years experience in graphic design and/or community based social marketing, with exposure in both areas.
Experience in writing, designing and publishing manuals, marketing publications, on-screen communication and web site content.
Strong working knowledge of traditional and new communications concepts and technologies.
Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self-management, accountability, flexibility and adaptability.
Well-developed presentation, verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to apply the principles of communications and graphic design to support and enhance Department initiatives.
Project management skills to lead a project or work group.
Thorough knowledge and demonstrated ability in computer-based design and layout and knowledge of related software including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Quark Xpress and MS Office software applications.
Ability to travel to off sight locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
Ability to work outside of regular business hours, as required.
