Mechanical Project Manager-ICI Construction (#266512)
Our client is a mid-size Mechanical Contractor in the GTA with an enviable list of recognizable projects successfully completed. In business for over 30 years, this company boasts employee loyalty and a close knit family environment where everyone is treated fairly! There are 10-15 employees in the office and over 30 in the field. The Mechanical portions of their projects vary up to the $7-8 M range. They provide Plumbing, HVAC construction services, while subbing out Sheet Metal. They service the ICI market with half of their contracts as Design/Build and half as Lump Sum.
Due to growth our client is looking for a Project Manager for plumbing and HVAC projects. The usual volume of work would comprise of managing about 6 or 7 smaller projects or 1-2 larger projects or combo 3-4 at a time large and small. A small project is $1-10K and a medium is $1-2M and a large project is $7-8 M. Their preference is to hire a more Senior Project Manager but they would consider a junior at a lower salary, and depending on experience. An opportunity to work within a small company comfortable atmosphere, flexible work schedule, a place to be treated fairly and the reality of dealing directly to the owner all the time is really possible if you apply to this position today! It could really lead to long term employment as many there are in fact long term employees, with some being with the company for over 20 years!
The Project Manager with our client specifically is one who can first of all, put their own schedule together and for the most part work on the project on their own with support from the company owner and partner. Change order management will be done using Accubid and Jonas. Projects are managed from the beginning, once the contract has been awarded right to hand off to the client. For budgeting the PM sits down with the President and partner twice per month to discuss issues, status updates and to review any unexpected costs. If there are any non-performance issues with subs it is preferred that the Project Manager can come to a solution independently, but can escalate to the President and partner if necessary. The PM will not have anyone directly reporting to them but informally the Foreman and Superintendent will work closely with the PM.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The right candidate fit would be someone with 7-8 years' experience working as a Project Manager specifically for a Mechanical Construction Contractor, ideally in the GTA. They would need to be an expert on Division 15, and have an overall understanding of Divisions 1-16. They would have Design-Build and Lump Sum project experience on work in the ICI Sector. They want someone who is "loyal, hardworking and dedicated, someone who gets the job done yet is modest, someone who is accountable, honest, communicative and service oriented."
Salary range is $75-100K. For more junior candidates being considered, salary is based on what they can bring to the table!
