About Our Office

As our Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting moderate to large premium volume involving commercial property policies to contribute to a profitable portfolio of business. You will also have the opportunity to demonstrate your great business acumen and your superior communication skills by promoting and strengthening productive relationships with our brokers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Quote, negotiate and authorize the acceptance of new business and renewals
Assess and approve risk changes and claims activity on existing accounts
Apply effective pricing and underwriting practices in accordance with company guidelines and underwriting authority limits
Develop and maintain excellent rapport with brokers through discussions, correspondence and office visits
Analyze broker portfolios to provide input and recommendations to Senior Underwriters
Participate in delivery of technical training, advice and coaching to brokers
Act as a mentor to junior staff, providing guidance with underwriting issues
Participate in industry functions and marketing events
Minimum 4-7 years of related commercial underwriting experience
CIP or actively pursuing professional insurance designation
University degree/ college diploma would be considered an asset
Excellent computer literacy and keyboarding skills
Experience in Oil and Gas is an asset
