Description

 

Position Overview:

 

The Security Operations Center Manager (SOC Manager) role is a key role within the Managed Security Services operations team. Residing within the Chief Security Office (CSO) and reporting directly to the Director - Security Operations, the SOC Manager provides leadership and direction to SOC personnel within the area of their functional accountability.

 

The SOC team enables growth and sustainment of TELUS recurring revenues by supporting the Managed Security Services portfolio. Our team brings together professionals with a wide range of security, privacy, and Audit/Compliance skills to support Large Complex Deals and Outsourcing Engagements across Canada.

 

Our SOC personnel work closely with customers and other TELUS teams as in monitoring and managing security devices and alerts. Our team has deep experience with numerous security standards and technologies in both standard service models and custom solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction and prioritization to the team of technical experts
  • Provide feedback on a regular basis to the product development team
  • Work cooperatively to support and evolve the network, tools, systems, and processes used by the team
  • Support the continuous development of the team in terms of training, systems, processes and competencies

    • Contribute to account and CSO Likelihood to Recommend targets through excellence in delivery of security and privacy components of client services programs
  • Provide effective management of security services delivery costs
  • Understand delivery complexities and the underlying technical environments associated with the implementation and management of large client services programs
  • Maintain effective working relationships with SMEs within Security Operation, Product Management, Service Management, and Service Implementation teams
  • Support incident and change customer commitments through a 7X24X365 support model

Qualifications

 

Required Knowledge:

  • Experience with ISO 27001 compliance requirements would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of security standards such as PCI DSS, ITSG-33, NERC, NIST, etc
  • Extensive experience interfacing with clients and managing/building client relationships
  • Operational experience in the delivery of managed security or telecommunications services would be beneficial

  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Takes initiative and demonstrates bias for action

Required Professional Designation/Certification:

  • Must be able to complete appropriate background checks and non-disclosure agreements
  • Must hold a degree in applicable business management or computer sciences fields of study
  • Must hold appropriate professional experience and accreditations in areas related to Security, Audit and Compliance domains, such as CISSP and CISM; other relevant certifications include: CISA, CRISC, GCIH, CIPP/C, ABCP, ISO 27001 (Lead Implementer/Auditor), ITIL, and PMP

Required Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience within operational security environments
  • Experience working within TELUS or a similar large service provider organization would be beneficial
