Find The Career You Have Been Looking For

As a Plant Operator at our Kirby SAGD (Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage) operation, you will join a team of dedicated Operations and Maintenance professionals and contribute to the safe and reliable operation of our Thermal facilities.   At Kirby, you will gain exposure to leading edge technologies and process equipment while working on an innovative new project. With the largest evaporation system in Alberta and a strong resource base, our growing project offers ample opportunity for skilled Power Engineers to develop long term careers. 

In this role, you will provide your knowledge and expertise of related operations to maintain and optimize processes and process equipment. Working in multiple operational areas, you will utilize and expand your experience with equipment including:
. Mechanical recompression evaporators
. Forced Circulation Drum Boilers
. Oil Processing Equipment
. SAGD Wells

This is a camp based position located northeast of Lac La Biche and near Conklin, AB. This role is eligible for:
. Relocation 
. Camp Accommodations Program
. Company Sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out Program with charter flights direct to the project site, departing from:
   o Calgary, AB
   o Edmonton, AB
   o Bonnyville, AB
   o Meadow Lake, SK
   o Saskatoon, SK


. Maintain and optimize equipment and processes
. Start up and shut down all plant equipment independently
. Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs and servicing
. Assist with the commissioning of new projects
. Assist in overseeing day to day plant and field activities
. Utilize the Delta V DCS control system to monitor and control plant conditions
. Identify and scope out opportunities to maximize production, minimize operating costs, and eliminate downtime
. Maintain proper documentation, including operating logs, maintenance records, and safety and environmental reports
. Train others on operating policies and procedures

. Typically 10+ years of related industry experience with steam generation in the Oil and Gas, Pulp and Paper industries
. 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate/Diploma or above is preferred (consideration will be given to 4th Class Power Engineers actively pursuing their 3rd class)
. Valid Class 5 Drivers license 
. Familiarity with and understanding of:
   o First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, H2S Alive
   o High pressure boilers
   o Auxiliary equipment
   o Water treatment equipment
