Job Description

Payroll Associate

Our client is Mississauga is looking for a Payroll Professional who has their PCP or CPM designation completed or in progress. The incumbent will have experience doing payroll for Quebec, Onatrio and Newfoundland. Bilingual in French and English is an asset but most have strong experience doing payroll for Quebec.

Role and Responsibilities

Process new hires, terminations, changes to employee positions, special payments such as bonus payments and vacation pay, garnishments, severance payments, taxable benefits and other deductions ensuring accurate and timely processing of changes; - Ensure compliance with all Provincial and Federal regulations as it pertains to statutory tax deductions and benefits reporting

Prepare all (semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly and annual) payroll related remittances reports and entries (i.e. CRA remittances, RSP, Pension, CSB, etc.); - Prepare Records of Employment for terminated or leave of absence purposes; - Prepare and make year-end adjustments to tax forms (T4, T4A, etc.); - Prepare related accounting journal entries and reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts on a monthly basis;

Respond to and provide solutions for questions with respect to pay and benefits, demonstrating strong internal customer service skills; - Liaise with the Benefits Manager regarding employee questions, concerns, and issues; - Work closely with the team to determine automations and efficiencies to improve workflow; and

Prepare any required off-cycle payroll cheques ensuring accurate calculations are made based on Provincial legislation

Qualifications and Experience

â?¢ 5 or more years of payroll experience
â?¢ Successfully completed their CPP or CPM designation with the Canadian Payroll Association coupled with strong accounting knowledge
â?¢ Demonstrated proficiency in ADP or Ceridian HR/Payroll or Payworks systems and Microsoft Office
â?¢ In-depth and up to date knowledge of Canada Revenue Agency regulations, Employment Standards, Income Tax, Canada Pension and Employment Insurance, and Ministry
â?¢ Ability to work independently as well as with a small team with minimal supervision; and
â?¢ Strong communication (written/verbal) skills
