HR Generalist (#319693)

One of our clients in Vaughan is currently looking for an HR Generalist with solid experience in health and safety. This role will support the company's business objectives by developing HR policies and supporting managers with their HR needs and acting as a resource for the employees. In addition to a strong generalist background, the ideal candidate will have manufacturing, health and safety and labour relations experience. More precisely, your principal responsibilities will be the following:

- Employee relations - be a point of contact for employees and managers about any areas of concern, build and maintain strong relationships with employees and managers
- Health & Safety - workplace audits, manage incident reports, investigations, WSIB management, back to work programs, H&S meetings, ensure employees are compliant with H&S requirements, providing and coordinating training
- Performance management - coach and provide guidance to managers on performance issues, assist with development plans, training, create a performance appraisal system and manage the annual review process
- Labour relations - manage grievances, collective agreement interpretation, participate in negotiations, build strong relationships with union leaders
- Act as an advisor - ESA, employment legislation
- Recruitment - full cycle activities, working with managers - sourcing, screening, interviews, assessments, offer letters, workforce planning, manage relationships with staffing agencies
- Policies and Procedures - create the employee handbook, set up best practices, assess existing policies and update if needed, communicate polices and provide training to employees
- Administration - maintain employee files and records, develop job descriptions, salary and wage bands, benefits administration
- Other HR projects as required

- University degree and or college certificate/post grad diploma in Human Resources
- Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a Generalist role, ideally in an unionized, manufacturing environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Knowledgeable about ESA, employment legislation
- High level of interest in health and safety, strong working knowledge of health & safety best practices, legislation and WSIB
- Able to work independently in a fast paced, challenging environment and able to make good decisions
- Strong customer service mindset while being flexible and adaptable
- Solution focused and excellent ability to prioritize tasks
- Solid understanding of how HR can impact the overall business
- Ability to build relationships, develop trust and act as an advisor
- A team player who is comfortable walking the floor
- An energetic, enthusiastic individual who is self motivated and willing to learn
- Strong analytical and technical skills - MS Office, creating reports for key HR metrics
