Appraiser, Machinery and Equipment (#273172)
We're currently seeking a Machinery & Equipment Appraiser, Senior Associate or Manager Level for a permanent position based out of Calgary OR Edmonton, AB.
Scope of Work, Main Duties and Qualifications:
-A great senior associate have demonstrated advanced associate skills
-They have assumed increased responsibilities such as training, supervision and project review
-They are expected to have the ability to handle all phases of an appraisal project, delivering to the review appraiser an appraisal document that accurately describes the assets being appraised
-They have effectively communicated the valuation criteria that have an impact on value
-Arrives at a logical, well-founded, and professional documented value conclusion that is presented in a format acceptable for presentation to the client
-Communication skills are now very essential at this stage
-A senior associate assumes the primary role in the coordination and communication of appraisal projects with clients, as well as communicating the results of the appraisal to the lenders involved
-A senior associate will have mastered the tools used in gathering data in-plant (i.e. Information Request Forms, Plant Meeting Checklist, Condition Classifications), and describe the Plant Inspection Methodology
-They are self-reliant in their appraising and confident in the accuracy of their work
-Approximately 40% travel is required
-Senior associate appraisers are expected to continue their appraisal education by successfully completing courses from approved sources
-A qualified M&E senior associate will have a high degree of integrity, business acumen, machinery and equipment expertise, and ample communication skills (verbal/written)
-A degree in a related field such as Finance, Economics Accounting, Engineering or Operations Management is preferred but comparable accomplishments in other areas will be considered
-Approximately three to five years of appraisal experience preferred
-Completion of USPAP and CPPA designation is preferred
-Previous experience of appraising machinery and equipment, including equipment in the oil and gas field preferred
-Inspection: Able to inspect more complex plants such as chemical, food processing and other process intensive manufacturing operations
-Research: Show a competency in completing a wide range of high level detailed research that includes multiple market contact discussions for varying industries
-Analysis: Complete more intricate valuation analysis such as in-place and in continued use, and also fully derived net value conclusions
-Narrative: be able to present the findings, overriding economic and machinery specific issues in a concise manner that is understandable by any reader
-Review: Review associates and appraisers work product for the Senior Associate's projects. Be able to properly identify areas of need and train the associates and appraisers in ways to improve their research and approaches to value
-Report Writing: In addition to an ability to write more concise and meaningful narrative portions, the Senior Associate should have the experience or knowledge of how to produce letters of value, addendums, and other appraisal documentation outside of typical reports.
