The Opportunity

Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking a Senior Electrical Project Manager located in Scarborough, Ontario.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards are in accordance with company policy and contract specifications are met.
  • Comply with all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
  • Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationships
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Implement and maintain quality control programs
  • Represent company on matters such as business services and union matters
  • Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients
  • Develop team members by advancing their technical and functional skills
  • Review work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correct deficiencies
  • Establish and update schedule timelines
  • Inspect and monitor the installation of work 
  • Meet the standard of Electrical workmanship as required by the contract documents and specifications
  • Ensure project health, safety and environmental standards meet or exceed legislated requirements and company policy
  • A university degree or a college diploma  or related trade experience with a concentration in the electrical discipline or trade qualifications and knowledge
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the electrical construction industry as a Project Manager
  • Extensive knowledge of established construction practices, procedures and techniques as well as applicable local and provincial labour codes
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizing skills with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors and employees at all levels of the organization       
  • Excellent computer skills including all MS Office applications
  • Experience with a construction related accounting program such as JDE
Requirements:

 

  • A university degree or a college diploma  or related trade experience with a concentration in the electrical discipline or trade qualifications and knowledge
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the electrical construction industry as a Project Manager
  • Extensive knowledge of established construction practices, procedures and techniques as well as applicable local and provincial labour codes
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizing skills with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines
