Legal Assistant – Commercial/Civil Litigation
Salary: Up to $55K

They are in search of a legal assistant with at least 5+ years of commercial/civil litigation experience to work with a Partner and an Associate of the firm. Municipal law would be an asset. They are looking for an energetic, detailed, hardworking and self-starting individual to join their fast-paced team. Primary Duties Include:

  • Preparation and editing of correspondence and legal documents
  • Review documentation and claims from new files
  • Responsible for assembling and filing o tribunal hearing documents
  • Handle administrative details with respect to accounting, docketing and expenses
  • Monitor and maintain tickler systems, schedules and calendars
  • Opening and closing files
  • Maintaining daily contact with clients
  • Other general duties as required


Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • 5+ years of commercial and civil litigation experience in a law firm
  • Municipal and land use planning experience a strong asset
  • Legal Assistant Diploma plus additional courses an asset
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
  • Strong technical skills (including Microsoft Office)
  • Flexibility to work overtime when necessary
