The Opportunity

Our client, a dynamic and growing structural steel firm in Edmonton is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Estimator to join their team!

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Identifying labor, material and equipment needs and costs based on drawings and specifications
  • Estimating number of hours to fabricate structural steel and misc. metals
  • Summarize quantities, prepare spreadsheets for alternate and separate prices as required for tenders
  • Understanding and inputting information into our steel management software
  • Coordinating, consulting, and communicating with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors as required
  • Evaluate all contract documents including bid drawings, specifications, and general conditions

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 4+ years direct experience in steel estimating role, preferably in Industrial for intermediate
  • 8+ years direct experience will be considered for a more senior position
  • Related CET, Degree, or other will be considered
  • PC skills and knowledge of related estimating software required (struMIS/Tekla/AutoCAD)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Valid class 5 licence required (no travel require)

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary is dependent on experience and relocation would be provided if necessary.
