Our client is a subsidiary of a large, well known South Asian conglomerate, with dominant positions in a number of different industries. As an integral division amongst its stable of businesses, the International Freight Forwarding entity is expanding its reach, bringing its exceptional service offering to Canada. Capitalizing on its extensive and loyal international client base, this newly formed Canadian company has a robust level of current import air and sea freight business and is excited to expand into export air and ocean shipments as well as domestic/transborder ground transportation.
This is an outstanding opportunity for someone with freight forwarding operations experience and a history of providing outstanding service to join the Canadian division of an international organization as it rolls out its business in Canada. Getting in on the ground floor will position you nicely for career progression as the company grows and develops. Like any well-built structure, a solid foundation will be key to the stability and success of this enterprise; accordingly, our client is looking for top operational talent to join and grow with the business. This position will require the successful candidate to deal with both carriers and customers on a daily basis as the source of operational and customer service excellence on the ground here in Canada. The successful candidate’s ability to advance their career will be bounded only by their own ability and drive to succeed. Situated in the heart of the financial district in down town Toronto, this is an extremely rare opportunity to ply your logistics trade within the Toronto “Core”.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Director and will act as the key operations contact between the company and its customers and suppliers to: accept and process customer orders; assist customers with shipment status and exception information; provide price quotes; develop and pass on sales leads; receive and handle customer complaints; seek and negotiate rates with suppliers; and liaise with suppliers to anticipate and address issues. A deep understanding of AIR and OCEAN freight forwarding as well as solid relationships in the industry will be required in order to succeed in this role.
EXPERIENCE: In order to be COMPETITIVE for this position, you will have:
- 3 or more years of experience resulting in an excellent understanding of the freight forwarding business – AIR and OCEAN experience is required.
- Fluency in English (verbal/written).
- Strong telephone and computer skills.
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent understanding of customer needs – particularly within the freight forwarding industry.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Competitive and comprehensive compensation program.
Post-Secondary an asset, Logistics oriented designation such as CIFFA also an asset.
