Position Purpose:

The Compensation & Benefits Analyst will provide analytical expertise, business case support and recommendations in the development and administration of compensation and benefit programs designed to meet Home Depot business objectives and associate needs.  The focus will include salaried and hourly compensation and incentive plans, equity programs, group benefit plans and insurances and retirement programs.   Consult with HR clients and business partners to assist with compensation decisions and issue resolution.   Support ongoing department activities including compensation approvals, HR reporting, position maintenance, job evaluation, associate communication. This position reports to the Manager, Compensation, with strong field and head office HR partnerships

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support ongoing compensation administration for the Canadian Division, including review, analysis and recommendations for wage approvals,

  • Lead the delivery of timely and accurate compensation support and reporting to HR practitioners.

  • Provide job evaluation reviews and recommendations, maintenance of records and job descriptions,

  • Support the annual salary administration process and quarterly hourly wage review program

  • Participate in annual and ad hoc external compensation and benefit surveys, provide thorough analysis of results, prepare recommendations and action plans to address identified external market trends and competitive issues,

  • Review benefit programs, provide analysis of opportunities for continuous improvement from the joint perspectives of enhancing associate engagement and maintaining cost containment within the plans,

  • Work closely with team members to prepare and deliver presentations to HR practitioners and associates, with the goal of improving understanding and enhancing engagement with the programs,

  • Review and analyze programs with the goal of continuous improvement in terms of design, administrative efficiency and costs optimization,

  • Participate in the development and approval process for annual compensation and benefit budgets, working with our external consultant during the budget process,

  • Provide monthly review and analysis of benefit plan costs (actual spend vs. plan), provide monthly updates to the Benefits Manager, highlighting trends and issues,

  • Provide ad hoc review and analysis of programs, including ad hoc reports and analysis,

Experience/Knowledge Required:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a post-secondary education,

  • Professional designation CCP and CEBS preferred,

  • Minimum 3 years' HR experience with an emphasis on compensation and benefits,

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and HR reporting is required,

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite,

  • Experience with compensation and benefits market research analysis,

  • Experience in salary administration and job evaluation,

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels,

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail,

  • Self-starter, efficient, organized and able to produce high quality work under pressure and in a timely fashion,

  • Strong work ethic and sense of responsibility and confidentiality,

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders,

  • Bilingual French/English an asset,

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, possess patience, a teamwork attitude, ability to positively engage others, be upbeat and have a positive attitude,

  • Excellent interpersonal skills,

  • Proven ability to perform in an unpredictable, fast-paced environment,

  • Exceptional customer service skills,

  • Self-starter, creative thinker, problem solver,

  • Strong organizational and time management skills,

  • Compensation: 80% / Benefits: 20%
