Instructional Designer

Centre for Instructional Technology and Development (CITD)






Reporting to the Associate Director of Curriculum Excellence, the Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and developing high quality curricula.   The Instructional Designer will work in collaboration with SAIT’s Content Experts, teaching faculty, technical and support staff in a wide variety of subject areas.  The primary role of the Instructional Designer will be to apply instructional systems design (ISD) to course outlines, learning outcomes and objectives, learning activities, and assessments.




The Instructional Designer will work collaboratively with all schools/departments across campus in the design and development of web-based and face-to-face curricula, applying ISD and adult learning principles to curriculum projects.  Other responsibilities include facilitating front-end analysis using various methodologies and assisting with other related curriculum projects as assigned.




• Master’s degree with specialization in Instructional Design and/or Curriculum Development for online and distance delivery. 

• 1-5 years of experience in designing and developing curricula suitable for e-learning. 

• Experience using a Learning Management System and various communication software packages.

• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.


Successful candidates must provide proof of qualifications. Only education obtained from an accredited institution will be recognized.
