Transaction Processing Services (TPS) provides development and support for mission critical services across all Bank Channels, TeleScotia, Scotia Online, Call Center CSR, Branch Teller and various Central Processing Centres. TPS is responsible for 14 applications including Branch Teller systems, all financial postings, Automated Teller and Debit Point of Sale authorizations, Teller Functions, Agreements and Standing Order initiatives. These services are hosted on the Banks OS/390 platform and developed with a mix of software tools, vendor products and technology in varying degrees of complexity. We are looking for an energetic Project Leader for the ABM (AT) and POS (EF) applications to lead the team thru new and ongoing development initiatives. The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day project management and production support of ABM/POS initiatives and participate in all phases of a Project life cycle, have excellent communication skills and be comfortable dealing with various departments independently such as business clients and technical support teams.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The Project Leader is responsible for managing the execution of day-to-day project work in order to meet client expectations within approved time, cost, quality and scope by determining milestone activities, creating project plans, managing project resources and monitoring work efforts against plans.
Supervises the development and maintenance of assigned applications
Risk planning and management, escalating appropriately.
Ensuring all project documentation is created, updated and archived for current and future use
Negotiates IT Project requirements for deadlines, budgets and resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong technical, analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities
Flexible and adaptable team player that is service oriented
Demonstrated sound judgment with respect to conclusions, decisions and actions
Ability to learn new tools and concepts at a rapid pace
Excellent oral and written communication skills, both technical and business writing as well as presentations.
Experience performing evaluations on user requirements with good analysis on costs and benefits.
Experience in producing External and General Design Documents.
Experience in preparing system test strategies and assisting in regression and integrated system testing.
Business knowledge of ABM/POS technology is desirable.

EDUCATION AND ACCREDITATIONS:

Computer Science Degree or Community College equivalent or relevant work experience.

OTHER INFORMATION:

Position is at Level 07. Successful candidate maybe hired as Senior Project Leader or Manager, Development based on knowledge and experience.
