Our client is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator for a permanent opportunity.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare and process payroll for all company divisions
  • Prepare journal entries and forms, such as records of employment, income tax forms, and remittances.
  • Issue ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports including all year end processing.
  • Implement salary increases, bonuses, commissions, and so on in accordance with instructions given.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Reconcile and prepare monthly remittances and cheque requests for garnishments, WSIB etc.
  • Administration of employee programs (e.g. health benefits, EAP, etc.), Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) programs.
  • Prepare and distribute reports, benefit package descriptions, and other publications.
  • Maintain records for Group RRSP contributions made by employees; liaise with service providers to ensure funds are transferred as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the HR department and other departments to ensure pay and personnel records are accurate and up to date.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Canadian Payroll Association Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years payroll experience for salaried and hourly employees.
  • Knowledge of ADP payroll systems (Pay@Work and eZLabor Manager)
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office software, particularly Excel and comfortable working with Access
  • Knowledge of income tax forms, health benefits programs, sick pay, retirement plans, and so on.
  • Experience in all year end processing activities (T4’s, AIR’s, WSIB, EHT etc)
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
