Manufacturing Design Team Lead (#274792)

Our Client is looking for a Manufacturing Design Lead for their Fort Saskatchewan, AB location.

Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Design Team Lead:

-The Design Team Lead is responsible for the activities of the in-house Design Office.
-Coach Team members to develop a Goal Zero mindset for personal safety and Project delivery.
-Set-up and administration of PO's and Invoices.
-Set work assignment and priority guidelines to meet workload commitments.
-SPI Data team - Resource and manage SPI data team (2-3 member team of SPI Administrator and Data Entry personnel).
-The Design Team Lead overseas engineering designs:
-Development of 'Construction Work Packages' (CWP's) for Small Capital Projects (<3$MM).
-Development of 'Construction Work Packages' (CWP's) for Maintenance.
-Incorporate a 'Safety in Design' philosophy into all CWPs.
-Accountable for CWP quality and progress of 'Fit for Purpose' engineering designs.
-Support outside Engineering Contractors (EPC's) to meet Site design and drafting expectations for larger capital projects.

The Design Team Lead also overseas documentation management:

-Ensures 'Master' documentation (Technical drawings, Inspection Sketches, LDT's, SPI data etc) is updated and maintained to ensure integrity of plant facilities.
-Ensures 'redline' mark-ups from field construction (Projects, MOC's etc.) are integrated into 'Master' documentation.
-Provides guidance and technical support to personnel from other departments with respect to document types, storage needs, standards, numbering systems etc.
-Supports the integration of third party generated documentation into the site Electronic Document Mgt System.

Design Team Lead is accountable for site Excavation Permits:

Accountable for Site excavation permits prepared by the Design Team, to ensure all excavations are carried out in a safe manner, and ensure the integrity of existing buried facilities.

Other Systems:

-CAD -Responsible for the site CAD system (AutoCad), development of drafting procedures, and user training.
-Ensure compliance of EPC generated documentation to meet Site CAD standards.
-Document Storage - Support the Tech Library in the set-up and administration of drawings stored in AIM.
-Glycol Tracing - Maintain and support the Glycol Tracing application and documentation used for GT designs and general data viewing.
-Support IT with the management of Application and Data servers (CAD, Glycol, Shared Data folders etc).
-SPI (Smart Plant Instrumentation) - Manage SPI data team to implement a work process and address backlog of instrument data from EPC's and Site sources.

Required Skill and Experiences:

Must be eligible to work for any employer in Canada without sponsorship.
Must have an 'Engineering Design Technology' Diploma from a recognised Institute such as NAIT or SAIT.
Experience in layout and design of facilities related to the Petrochemical Industry.
Experience with a major EPC company in the preparation of engineering designs and drawings.
Has a good understanding of the Project development process
Practical experience in the 'field'. Understands the relationship between facility design and Operations/Maintenance interface.
Primary skills set related to Mechanical/Piping, but knowledge of Electrical and Instrumentation desirable.
Member of 'Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists' (ASET).
Good working knowledge of CAD (Autocad) and related software components.
Practical knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel) and Databases.
Strong Interpersonal and motivation skills.
Strong communication skills (verbal, written and Technical).
Excellent problem solving techniques.
Ability to coach and delegate as necessary.
