Summary: 

The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years' experience of relevant safety experience with a strong WorkSafe BC background in the heavy manufacturing, building materials or construction industry. The area of responsibility will be the Province of British Columbia.
 
Responsibilities:

.Implement and support all Safety and Health programs including all regulatory compliance programs and the Lehigh Hanson Safety/Health Management System
.Provide on-going S & H support and guidance to plant management and employees
.Continuous interpretation and compliance planning for current and emerging safety regulatory requirements at all levels affecting the assigned facilities including State, Federal, and local legislation.
.Monitor and proactively report facility Safety and Health performance
.50-75% local travel within assigned area
.5% travel outside assigned area, generally, for corporate and team meetings.
.Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including, completion of required training, and monitoring compliance.
.Proactively manage safety and health of employees to continuously improve the company's safety and health performance.
.Management of workers' compensation, automotive and general liability claims.
 
Skills and Qualifications:

.Minimum 5 years of relevant safety experience or equivalent combination of both
.Post-secondary training in OHS, NCSO program, or equivalent
.Holds or perusing CRSP designation

.Experience managing WorkSafe BC Board claims management and return-to-work programs
.Experience managing workers' compensation, automotive and general liability claims
.Experience and competence in developing and implementing safety programs
.Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels from senior operation leadership to plant level employees
.Competent in coaching and teaching of operations and personnel
.Competent in Federal, Provincial, and local Safety and Health regulations and agencies affecting the assigned facilities
.Competent in the Microsoft Suite software
