The Opportunity

Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking a Tool Room Supervisor located in Scarborough, Ontario.  The Tool Room Supervisor will be responsible for the management and operation of the Southern Ontario Tool Room ensuring continuous availability of tools and equipment, in proper working condition, and for all business units of Southern Ontario Region.  

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all Tool Room operations including receiving, deliveries, inventory and warehousing
  • Manage Tool Room inventory and ensure minimum stock levels of tools and equipment are maintained and verified through monthly stock checks
  • Manage warehouse to ensure effective management and organization of inventoried items
  • Manages the schedule for project site deliveries and pick-ups to ensure full utilization of delivery trucks and personnel
  • Ensure tooling and equipment records are maintained and accurate utilizing company ERP system
  • Ensure the accurate and timely generation of reports for the Controller, Divisions and Projects
  • Liaise with Project Teams and Purchasing to ensure tooling and equipment requirements are met
  • Maintain and monitor the test, repair and safety requirements of tools and equipment ensuring compliance with Federal, Provincial and CSA requirements
  • Ensure that all necessary and ongoing staff safety training requirements are met in accordance with company policy
  • Plans, recommends and monitors budgets to ensure efficient operation of the department in conjunction with the Purchasing Manager
  • Supervise departmental staff including hiring, training, performance assessment, discipline and corrective actions
  • Requires appropriate post-secondary education such as technology, CET or business
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform small tool repairs
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in construction industry
  • Tool knowledge/Equipment knowledge is required
  • Prior tool room management experience is preferred
  • Construction experience is considered an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal along with the ability to work with all level of management

Requirements:

  • Requires appropriate post-secondary education such as technology, CET or business
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform small tool repairs
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in construction industry
  • Tool knowledge/Equipment knowledge is required
  • Prior tool room management experience is preferred
  • Construction experience is considered an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
