POSITION SUMMARY/RÉSUMÉ DU POSTE:

The Senior QA will carry out the application and maintenance of test procedures, ensuring results are in accordance with the standards of the organization.  Consults with QA Team Lead and members of the Data Warehouse Team to ensure the technical development life cycle is completed with the highest standards

In addition, the Senior Quality Analyst will be involved developing processes and supports for ongoing testing. The incumbent will play a key role in liaising with Users, Vendors, Team Leads, Project Managers and various other departments within Cancer Care Ontario.  This role will report to the QA Manager, Application Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES/RESPONSABILITÉS:
The key responsibilities of this position are/Les principales responsabilités de ce poste sont:

  • Work in collaboration with business stakeholders and project team members to gather and prepare testing requirements including Test Plans, Test Cases and Execution Plans
  • Identify, mitigate and communicate testing and QA risks
  • Understand Data Models, System Design and Source to Target Mapping Documents to estimate and perform QA Analysis tasks
  • Create SQL scripts used in testing (i.e. back-up tables, identify duplicate records, complex sorting queries)
  • Prepare test data addressing complete set of test cases
  • Create Test Cases in Team Foundation Server
  • Deploy and execute ETL workflows in QA environment
  • Perform execution of component and system integration of ETL and BI reports
  • Communicate to the Project Manager Progress and status of test planning and execution.
  • Ensure deliverables are met when deadlines are required from the Test Lead and Project Managers 
  • Participate in all phases of the project life cycle and promote QA Center of Excellence Quality Assurance's best practices and standards
  • Validate concurrence on business requirements by providing a metric for achievement of project objectives; and the resolution of the business problem on an event by event basis
  • Work with business and technical personnel (i.e. Development, IT Operations) to troubleshoot and resolve defects and issues quickly and efficiently
  • Participate in pre-implementation reviews with Development and IT Operations

QUALIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An undergraduate degree in computer science and technology or recognized equivalent, is required
  • QA Certification with ISTQB or QAI, ITIL (or similar substitute) is recommended
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Data Warehouse environment
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on ETL experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with SQL back-end validation
  • 5 years' experience with test plan and preparing and executing test cases for a web development project
  • Experience with Team Foundation Server and Microsoft Test Manager tools
  • Solid background in QA methodologies, testing procedures and defect management
  • Experience with performance and automation testing is an asset
  • Experience with testing applications built on SharePoint and Mobile Applications for iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile phones and tablets is an asset
  • Leadership and test coordination experience
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills are a must
  • A team player capable of working independently on assigned tasks and ability to meet tight deadlines.
