R&D Formulation Chemist

JOB DUTIES:                                   

  • New Product Development
    • Develop and review formulations for cosmetic and pharmaceutical purposes
    • Study market needs and research existing products while comparing benefits
    • Research and implement Innovative ingredients that will enhance formulation efficacy
    • Propose development of new products based on raw material trends
    • Monitor a project from formulation to commercialization


  • Other Duties & Special Projects
    • Provide formulation improvements and guidance to development chemists
    • Cost improvement projects on formulations or manufacturing process
    • Interact with and monitor suppliers and manufacturers
    • Assist in planning for Marketing
    • Prepare SR&ED project reports for Tax credits
    • Supervise formulation transfers and scale-ups 


TRAVEL: Occasional travel required visiting manufactures either locally or nationally; up to 4 (four) to 5 (five) times per year

Job Requirements


  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in the personal care or pharmaceutical industry
  • University degree in a Science related field
  • Formulation experience with skin care products (emulsions, gels, serums, cleansers, etc)
  • Experience working in a GMP environment
  • Demonstrated ability to research and adapt existing concepts to new products
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques
  • Process-driven individual
  • Excellent communication skills required; fluent English and French (oral & written)
  • Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) required; Syspro/Vintara an asset
