The Planner/Scheduler will play a fundamental role in our growth strategy for the Horizon Oil Sands expansion. Working on extremely high-budget and high-profile projects, you will take a hands-on role in planning and scheduling development, maintenance and monitoring activities to support project objectives.
This exciting and challenging role will provide the opportunity to develop expertise on Upstream oil & gas planning/scheduling areas for a growing project expansion at the Horizon Oil Sands.
This position is based in Calgary, Alberta and is eligible for:
. Relocation to Calgary
Temporary Assignment Details
Location: Horizon Oil Sands site 70 km outside of Fort McMurray, Alberta
When: Expected timeline is sometime in 2015/2016
Duration: Timeline to be determined based on business needs
Shift Schedule: Typically 4 days on/3 days off (Monday - Thursday) for 10 hours per day
Accommodations: Eligible for Fly In/Fly Out program from Calgary or Edmonton with company provided accommodations on site

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
. Coordinate with project teams to ensure reports on schedules, progress and resource requirements are provided on a timely basis
. Participate in review of engineering, procurement and construction schedules that are provided by the project teams
. Update and maintain the consolidated project master schedules, progress data and resources requirements data
. Analyze schedule, progress, and workforce data and provide recommendations for corrective action when necessary
. Summarize monthly progress information, workforce and commodity statistics
. Assist in preparation of schedules for Walk-Downs, TCCC, Commissioning & Start up
. Provide support to the Manager and Project Team on all progress, scheduling and resource/manpower planning issues
. Prepare and monitor area coordination schedules
. Prepare and assist in analyzing "what-if" schedule scenarios
. Typically 5+ years of experience in a planning/scheduling role with an Engineering degree or Technical diploma
. Field experience in the oil & gas, mining, or similar type industry during engineering and/or construction phases
. Familiarity with and understanding of:
o Current engineering/construction procedures and standards in the industry
o Multi-discipline operating functions related to engineering and construction field activities
o Project/Business management principles and concepts
o The Microsoft Office suite
